We had a great time in WA. ( : That's about all I'll say for the moment on that. I'm not sure when I'll actually get around to recounting our holiday, but I know that I don't feel like it right now. I also don't feel like uploading the zillions of pictures I took either, though I might go load up a few.
52 weeks has fallen somewhat by the wayside. I actually completely forgot about it for two of the three weeks in the states and finally just decided I was too busy there to manage it. Here I've posted up a watercolor for last Saturday and 250 words, but can't seem to find any desire to write 750 more words. Kate is verbally poking me, but my word center is going "blah" whenever I turn to it. I will try again tonight, but don't be surprised if the results are truly awful.
I have, however, been reading lots. I've read the following since leaving for the states:
The Kids From Nowhere: The Story Behind the Arctic Educational Miracle by George Guthridge
How to Fit a Car Seat on a Camel and Other Misadventures Traveling with Kids edited by Sarah Franklin
The Elephant in the Playroom: Ordinary Parents Write Intimately and Honestly About Raising Kids with Special Needs
edited by Denise Brodey
And am currently reading Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace... One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. So big on the non-fiction/education/kid thing right now.
I feel like I must have read something else, but it's not coming to me at the moment.
The first one introduced me to this
program, which I think looks excellent and is exactly the kind of thinking and problem-solving we should be teaching kids right now (instead of how to score high on a multiple-choice test).
School is going well enough. I'm pleased with some of the progress I'm seeing.
More on everything later hopefully.
