Things happening

We just got the DAF delivered back home at the exact same time as a guy came to pick up Kate's old computer chair.  Funny how those things happen.  The DAF looks decent (no worse than before) and should now have floor and more safe structure.

Kate has installed a new harddrive into my laptop (look at the money flying...), but has realized that it needs more memory if I'm going to upgrade to a better version of OS X.  Therefore, today I get to go back to PC World and buy some memory for her to install.  I grumble about the money, but honestly, I feel incredibly lucky that Kate can do the actual installing so I don't have to pay for some Mac professional to do it.  Also, I got about 3-4 years of work out of this computer with virtually no hassles or cost.  That seems pretty good to me.

We had a lovely weekend in between things happening.  Saturday we walked to Windsor (about 4 miles) and ate cheese sandwiches next to the Thames.  I'll have pics when my computer is completely back up and running (on Kate's laptop right now).  The only blot on the day was that we had cakes at a place where they listed a piece as costing "from £2.50" in the menu (expensive), but charged us £3.50 (stupid expensive) at the till without naming the price when listing the cakes available.  Errgh.  The cakes were nice enough, but not amazing.

However, the rest of the day was fabulous.  It was beautiful, we got to spend it together, we looked through a little antique shop with cheap prices (except the gorgeous Victorian writing box I salivated over), and we just generally enjoyed ourselves.

Yesterday I cleaned the downstairs while Kate did dishes and my computer.  We then made an absolutely delicious chicken pie with quorn pieces instead of chicken.  Yum!  We have leftovers for tonight.

Today we were supposed to have the morning together, but Kate's work was desperate, so she had to take off early.  She needs the money anyway.  I'm off today for "inset" at school, but we finished on Friday.  I'm excited about the new ideas for next year.  For one, I'll be almost exclusively attached to one year group (2 classes), so I'll be able to really focus on helping a set of kids instead of running all over the school.  I'll still work with one boy who will be in year 5, but other than that I'll be with year 4.  Yay!  We will also have teams to monitor, plan, and feedback on curriculum.  I love getting the chance to communicate about what the children are learning and how.

Wedding plans are moving on slowly.  The thing in Olympia is looking to be a bit more complicated than either Kate or I had anticipated, but there you are.  More news on that later.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. ( :
