I'm so happy right now, I feel like I could cry. :-D Just like
this man.
For anyone interested,
Andrew Sullivan has some nice commentary on the
California Supreme Court's decision. As he points out, this cannot be claimed by the right-wing to be a case of so-called "judicial activism". Laws to this effect have already been passed twice by our state legislature, only to be vetoed by the Governator.
I will never understand people who feel that allowing our gay friends, family and neighbors the opportunity to enjoy the benefits allowed to the rest of us is somehow a threat to the institution of marriage. I would think the over 50% divorce rate is a far greater threat. Do these people realize that the rate of straight marriages actually increased in Massachusetts after their lifting the gay marriage ban?
When the mayor of San Francisco open the floodgates a few years ago by allowing marriage licenses to be issued to everyone, gay and straight, I swear I could feel the joy all the way down here in San Diego. I can already feel it again.
