Haillie is one of the foster girls who lives next door. She has borrowed tons of my DVDs over the course of the summer. Everything form Angel to SGA to Starsky & Hutch to Supernatural. I tried to sell her on the joys of Due South but so far she hasn't bitten. Although at 15 it's probably not cool enough. Part of why she has borrowed so many DVDs is that the girls each have their own TV and DVD player but the TV isn't hooked up to cable. The only TVs that get cable are the ones that the foster parents watch. I get why they do it that way. They have tons of DVDs they can watch (over and over again) that Marty and Paul know are acceptable. I have to admit I often think that the rules they have to follow are excessive, but considering the types of problems these girls have had it's better to be safe than sorry. Anyway, the last set of DVDs I loaned her was S1 of Supernatural and the girl was well and truly hooked. I told her I would happily save the episodes and burn them on DVD for her. She'd end up being about a month behind but she'd get to see the show.

So the phone just rang. It was Marty. She asked me to explain what Supernatural was about. I refrained from telling her how it was all about the deep love and hot sex between two brothers. *g* Apparently I described it well enough because Marty gave permission and Haillie got on the phone to see if she could come over and watch Supernatural with me. I guess she just can't stand to wait to know what happens. *g* If the opportunity arises I may have to point out the slashy goodness. I know she's up for weird because she borrowed Pin and loved it.

I'm thrilled that I'm going to have someone to watch it with so I won't have to squee to the cats. They never squee along with me, which is kind of a downer. *g*

I'm also really excited because kelliem and ardent_muses are coming for a visit tomorrow. I went to the grocery store today and stocked up. Being single I tend to buy what I need, so if I run out of sugar I don't automatically buy more until I need it so I stocked up on a lot of stuff. I hope they come hungry. So in a way I get to kick of my weekend of fannishness a day early.

I did have one moment of terror today. I was cleaning off my desk and found this envelope that had gotten pushed under the wrong pile. It was from the county clerk's office dated September 15th telling me I was to report for jury duty yesterday and today. Eep! I called the clerks office and explained and apologized and asked if I could do it next week. They were understanding and said they would assign me new dates and mail them out to me. *sigh* Next time I get a letter from the county clerk's office I guess I should open it right away, huh? Because I'm kind of bummed. I've never been called for jury duty before and I'd kind of like to see what it's like...although I imagine it's boring.

supernatural, fannish stuff, real life
