Safe Haven
After I realized that the dude trying to get into my gate was a zombie, I loaded up the 30-30 and the 9mm, filled my vest pockets with extra ammunition, woke up John to let him know what was going on and secured the gates as well as I could. I have barricaded the back entry to the building and only the front door is able to be opened at all.
I went on a search of all the apartments upstairs but I guess it was only luck that made this all happen while the college students were out partying it up. All but one of the apartments were empty, and the two guys that were inside their apartment are now on a suicide mission. I sent them to get more supplies. They seem kind of stupid so I doubt they will make it back, (it's amazing what someone will do when you have a loaded gun trained on them) at least not in one piece.
I have consolidated all of the food from the apartments into apartment #7, why they had 2 fridges I will never know, and I have filled every bathtub with water. As luck would have it #7 is also the only apartment in our building that has a gas stove and it's pretty old, you know, one of the ones that you have to light with a match. So there is enough food, between what myself and John have in our storage and the consolidated food upstairs, to keep us going for a good amount of time.
My friends, if you are reading this, you have 20 minutes to get here. You must bring some supplies with you and submit yourselves to be examined, to ensure that you are not infected.
