We said goodbye to George on Wednesday. Not really, you know. Just...
Yesterday I turned seventeen. I wore my new robes. They're white. Mum said I should wear them, so I did. Bill and Fred are here. I miss Bill's hair. That is so stupid of me only I've never seen it short and I liked it a lot when it was long. Penny came over and brought me two books wrapped in pink tissue paper. One is about the Ministry of Magic and the other is about famous female Quidditch players. Percy was too busy to come have cake but that's all right.
Ron got it in his head to help Mum make my cake. This is exactly what he said: "Leave it to me, Mum, I made a cupcake for Harry once."
!!!!!
Well, Fred, Chip, Bill, Toaster, Penny, Plug, Circuit, and I just sat in the living room listening, after that. It was really amazing. Ron wore my apron and do you know he looks quite good in yellow gingham with flour in his hair. Mum told him he's never allowed in the kitchen again but the cake did turn out well after Mum picked out all the bits of eggshell and frosted it up pink. Dad seemed happy Ron helped in the kitchen until he went in and saw it. Then I went and took a peek and it was awful. I'd only cleaned it a couple of days ago and it was ransacked. Penny and Bill helped tidy it up again. Don't worry Ron, I loved the cake. I like tomatoes just that much and so does Toaster.
Hermione sent me a bracelet to match my robes. She bought it when I bought them and didn't tell me. She must have told her parents I was having a birthday 'cos her dad sent me a toothbrush which was thoughtful. Evan sent me a kiss and I am surprised he remembered. Someone probably told him, or else he looked on the Quidditch calendar. I put everyone's birthdays on it last year.
Harry sent me a singing telegram which I reckon he wrote himself as it is quite personal. So personal, in fact, that I will transcribe it here as best as I can remember it.
Her eyes are as brown as a fresh pickled gourd
Her hair is as red as a chessboard
She's really divine, like the, er, sunshine
The Ginny who conquered the scoreboard
It was the best. The cupid had a really lovely singing voice which startled us all. Dad about kicked the cupid out of the house, but I got it, and so did Fred. We both cried. That Harry Potter, he is such a talented wizard.
I miss Charlie and George so much, I wish Percy would have been there but it's really all right. Bill says he's needed at work, and that he needs to be there. I missed him. I miss everything and everyone. I don't want to ever sleep so I've stayed up with Fred and I've cleaned the whole house. Dreaming is terrible. Waking up and remembering is terrible. It won't ever be the same again. I wish I could give back everything for just more time with all of them. I would have wished for it on my birthday candles but there weren't any. We didn't want to see any more flames.
