Hmm. tbh, I kind of put off writing this entry today because my day has been so uneventful, but thinking back, the person I appreciated most was the cashier at Target.
So. The lines are four/five people deep, there are only two registers open, etc. etc. and the lady right in front of me is more than a little annoyed. But working in fast food has taught me one thing: when you're behind the register, any nice customers can turn your stress around. So as everyone was just standing around being impatient, and other employees were rushing around trying to open up more registers, I just sat there in line and smiled. And by the time I actually got up to the cashier (it really wasn't very long), she was sort of frazzled and apologizing to me left and right, I just said "no problem" and her whole posture relaxed. And we were joking around, and smiling at each other, and we just had this mutual, thankful graciousness and I really appreciated that. She was the picture of professional but really open and nice too, and I don't know, it was a really small occurrence but I just felt welcome. And that was really nice. :)
