Character Background: Having spent her first decades of life in a small, dark room, and having horrible experiments performed on her on a regular basis, she was nameless and alone (except when Amshel came to feed and take care of her) until Saya found her and named her "Diva" because of her beautiful singing voice. 20 years later, Saya let Diva out of her Tower, when she finally got her freedom, and went to show the the Old Man exactly what she thought of being locked in a cage for so long. Sometime before fleeing the area, Diva gave Amshel her blood, turning him into a chevalier (a loyal servant to whomever "makes/creates" them). Over the next century Diva clashes with Saya, wanting to kill her twin sister out of jealousy for having been the one to be treated like a human being, and the fact that Saya is trying to kill her. Every 2 or 3 years the sisters fall into a Long Sleep, or hibernation period, that lasts for about 30 years. In 1917, during the Russian Revolution, while Diva's coming out of her Hibernation period, Amshel brings Solomon Goldsmith to her, who she then turns into a chevalier, and then Karl Fei-Ong later on in the same year when Amshel and Solomon bring him to her. During the second World War in 1945, Diva turns James Ironside into a chevalier in Berlin, Germany. It is never stated when or how, but somewhere along the way Nathan Mahler became one of her chevaliers as well, although towards the end of the series it is heavily implied that he may have actually been the chevalier of Diva and Saya's mother.
Despite her childlike and ruthless nature, Diva wants to have childern of her own to love and take care of more than anything, and because of this she has tried (and failed) to become pregnant with both human men and her own chevaliers, multiple times.
Abilites/Special Powers: Diva, like all chiropterans, is much stronger and faster than humans, and can heal much quicker. She has to drink human blood to survive, and the more she drinks, the faster she heals, and the stronger and faster she becomes. Because of her healing abilities, there's only three ways to kill her - burn her entire body into ashes, cut off her head, or put her sister's blood inside her body. None of these would be an easy task, considering how fast and strong she is.
As a Queen chiropteran, Diva can turn human men into her chevaliers by having them drink some of her blood. She can also slightly alter her appearance to look more like someone else if she wants, although apparantly she cannot change her hair, eye and skin color (As is shown in the second half of the series).
Also, because of the experiments that she was put through often for decades, she's become "immune" to pain. She can still feel it, but because of the experiments she's gotten so used to feeling it that she no longer acknowledges it. This is shown in episode 24 when David shoots her in the chest (shock, yes, pain, no), in episode 49 when dying because of Saya's blood (she doesn't even so much as cringe while going through a slow, and what must be painful, death) and a few other episodes I can't remember the numbers of.
Third-Person Sample: The Zoo had been fun, especially getting to play with Saya, even if her sister's rude chevalier had stopped Diva from finally killing her. That human shooting her and putting a hole in her dress had been especially rude, though, and he deserved it when she threw him into that wall. Even if she hadn't felt inclined to move, because she knew Nathan would right away start making her a new dress if this one got ruined. (But Amshel didn't need to know that he was right and that she had gotten shot on purpose so that she could get a new dress.)
Quietly watching the scenery fly by in her seat at the back of the car, Diva ignored Solomon and Amshel for the moment, instead thinking about what kind of dress she'd like this time. White and light blue, or black and dark blue? Short sleeves or long?
Blinking her eyes open, Diva wasn't sure when she'd fallen asleep, but she wasn't worried. She was still prone to easily falling asleep, having just recently come out of her Long Sleep. Standing up from her place on the lawn, Diva looked around to see neatly trimmed hedges, trees and a pond, but not any rose bushes. Frowning slightly when she didn't see any of the bushes that housed the blue roses she loved so much, Diva started walking along the path between two rows of hedges.
Eventually coming across the mansion, Diva's frown deepened when she realized that it did not look like Amshel's. It was possible that he had changed it while she was hibernating, but he knew how she felt about red things that weren't blood. Red was Saya's color, Diva didn't want it!
Frown still in place, Diva hurried into the building made of red bricks, but paused in the foyer. This is...
Putting her hands on her hips and pouting, Diva declared, to no one in paticular, "This is unacceptable!"
First-Person Sample: Where am I? This isn't Amshel's mansion, it can't be. It doesn't smell like blue roses and there aren't any around, so this isn't Amshel's mansion! Why did him and Solomon leave me here? Where is here?
