So I found out at my PD yesterday frickin morning that I have to create yet another portfolio. I have to choose 3 goals: 1 for my reading class, 1 for math, and one for my professional growth based on this book of standards they gave me. I have to write up this whole big thing and show evidence and whatnot. Now it's not hard or anything but it's ANOTHER thing to do. This school just piles on the paperwork all the freakin time. I have lesson plans that are just as detailed as college every week. I have to create goals for my students at parent/teacher conferences and then measure my goal for every single student in my class (which is 27). I also have to write up a 2 page analysis on the kids' reading and math benchmark scores every month and meet with administration about it 3 times a month. When do I have time to teach?? I also have to write a reflection paper a month and an observation of a peer. I'm too busy analyzing and writing papers. No other school does all this crap I am sure. That's what pisses me off. I am required to do shit nobody else has to do. Anyone who says teachers have it easy should be shot. I work 12 hour days just to come home, eat, and go to sleep. My kids are nuts and I'm busting my balls ALL the time. The workload never gets smaller.
Sorry...I'm just ready for Thanksgiving break and needed to vent. You may skip over this entry if you like.
