PLU @ 31

I'm a PLU. I'm 31 yrs old. I've always been getting a "slightly better" salary compare to my peers. Thus that makes me to develope a habit as a spender.  I used to be proud of my salary and spent without thinking to reserve any. However, the idea of saving for retirement has kicked in couple of years back and since then i've started to buy insurances, invest in funds, buy property and not to forget that in the end i can always rely on my  EPF.

However today The Star has a topic of Retirement which i think is pretty good showing all those statistics and figures. The cost of 3 meals would be est. around $64 at 20 years later. At that time i'm already 50 and close to retirement age. Lets do a simple calculation. $64/day x 30 days/mth x 12 mths/year x 25 years (assume i'll live to 75 yo) = a WHOPPING $576000 for 3 meals only!!! OMG! Seriously no joke. And $500000 now is worth only $145000 at 20 years later!!!

That make me realize that what i've done may not be enough. I'm a plu & i dont think i will marry anyone and have children. Thus, when i'm old, i can only depend on myself and my partner. It's kind of sad for PLUs when they are old. Therefore, it is still not too late for me to plan again and save more money ,invest more on funds and the most importantly is a good medical insurance. Everyone needs a good medical coverage for the future. You wont need a cent after you die, but you definitely need more money when you are sick and hospitalise.

So, fellow PLUs, lets brace ourselves for the difficult and insanely ridiculous future that we have to face. May the moolah be with you!!

PS. HEROES is awesome but the ending is a bit bad. Yau-Man form Survivor 14 is awesome but he didnt win the $1 million. To quote him "- To love many, trust a few and do wrong to none". You've gained everybody's respect and you are a true hero, Yau.
