I almost thought I'd never get one done in time before I start university D: But I succeed!
And why yes, I am quite aware it is 2am right now. But I've been suffering insomnia for the past couple nights, and in fact, it is precisely because I haven't been sleeping through the night, that I managed to conceptualize and create this layout out so fast... normally it takes me at least a week on and off trying 50 billion things, but this time, I managed to think up one idea and 2 dozen variations of it in case it didn't work the first time around. :D
Anyway, without further ado, I present to thee mine new creation:
Title: .milk+
Theme: Queer as a clockwork orange. Literally. You can read about the book that came out of that phrase in
Wikipedia. I borrowed the book a couple weeks back, hence the concept of this layout in the first place. (And "milk plus", from what I understand of the book, is essentially milk that's been spiked with a helluva lot of drugs. :D)
In any case, "Queer as a clockwork orange" apparently means the queerest thing imaginable, or something along those lines. :D As for the book, it's damned hard to read because of the crazy amounts of pseudo-Russian slang words and I've barely read any of it, and now the book is due tomorrow later today D: But hey, it gave my insomnia-riddled mind inspiration for a shiny new layout, and I can always renew the book...
Colours: Pale green, orange, grey, white.
Graphics: In recent years and LJ layouts, I've realized that I actually really like doing photomanipulation. The clockwork orange is compiled entirely of stock photography from
morgueFile and
stock.xchng, and many hours of me exploiting everything I know about Photoshop Elements, even if it didn't feel that long. I think it turned out better than expected... I think this one was Alternate Plan #6, since I either couldn't find the right photos or couldn't use them well enough for the first 5 ideas I had.
Randomly: I'm still debating whether or not to add a bit more of a shadow over the clockwork showing from inside the orange to make it look more realistic, because I'm afraid it might be too dark to see, which would really defeat the purpose of having the crack there at all D:
Coding: Firefox and IE compatible! 800x600 resolution and up should be fine, I hope. This time, I was a pretty cheap ass when it came to coding, since I essentially took the whole of
this tutorial and modified it here and there. The weird thing though, because of me being anal when it comes to making pretty things perfect (even though nobody really cares), I really messed the coding up. For some reason, by correcting what looks like faulty coding by adding a missing "{" in my link definition thingers, the whole layout dies on me. But leaving it out keeps the layout pretty and pristine as you see it now. o_o;
... I'm just not going to question this.
Extra!: I actually bothered to make a pretty
userinfo. It's scary, really. But it's pretty!
My wrist hurts. >_>; But I'm still not sleepy. Dammit.
