What: Velja Noc (Great Night Festival)

Come ring in the new year and celebrate the Great Night with great company at the Viadrina Outpost. Bring a potluck contribution to partake in the feast and settle in for a long night of entertainment!
Young folk (or those still young at heart) are invited to don masks and take a larger role in the festivities for the evening. In pagan times Velja Noc was a holiday much like a combination of Carnival and Halloween. It was believed, on the longest night of the year, that the spirits of dead ancestors travelled across the land and entered the village to celebrate the new year with their living relatives. They sang songs and told tales of their long journey from the underworld. The master of any house they visited would welcome them warmly and presented them with gifts for their efforts.
As the Masters of this House, the Lord and Lady invite you to the Two Tankard Tavern for a memorable night of tales and revelry. As always, save up your pennies, dust off your boards, and don’t forget your dice!
Location: The Ridgedale Rod and Gun Club is located East of the Abby/Mission Hwy.(#11), On Sumas Mountain at 35606 Harris Road, Abbotsford, B.C. Canada.

- From Hwy 1 (Trans-Canada) Exit Sumas Way, Abbotsford
- From Sumas Boarder Crossing: US Hyw 9 = Sumas Way (Hwy 11)
- Head North on Sumas Way
- Turn Right on Hwy 11 (Abby Mission Hwy)
- Turn Right on Harris Rd.
- Continue down Harris Road until you reach the Ridgedale Rod and Gun Club.
- Follow the driveway around, past the house to the upper parking lot next to the Hall
Site Details: The site fee is $8 per person, under 12 free. All Children must be accompanied by their legal guardian. Site opens at 5 pm and the party continues until we are tired.
There is bunk down space available in the common area (bring your own sleeping gear.) Cleanup commences bright and early in the morning. Breakfast will be made available for volunteers. Please be advised that while we are welcome to stay the night, our private rental of the space ends at 8 am and that the Ridgedale Rod and Gun club will be open on Sunday morning.
Alcohol is allowed, but please remember to have a designated driver or take advantage of the available crash space if you choose to partake.
