Ooh, did I actually learn something?

I think I may have finally learned to keep my mouth shut when it comes to 'straightening out' the misinformation people like to pass along to one another.  I can usually ignore the random email popping up or other written propaganda, but when it comes out of someone's mouth, there's something just... enticing about blabbing on about how it won't work, it's wrong, or they're otherwise really fucking stupid.  Okay, so I haven't called anyone stupid before... at least not to their face.

So, it was the attack of the "let's boycott gas for a day!" conversation.  Now, perhaps if I knew them better, I would have said something, but these were managers from other branches.  I barely know them - I"m not about to start insulting their assumptions.  Though I probably should - it would make the world a better place.

This might even be considered blasphemy, but there's a part of me that thinks they should tax the shit out of gas.  Maybe then people will be even more moved to create some sort of alternative.  More and more people are turning to public transportation... even here in 'little ol' Utah' the trains are packed, buses are full, people are riding bikes and more!  Sure, it pisses me off when I'm paying so much for gas when I want to get away where the trains can't get me and I'm pretty bent over airline prices for even further trips, but... if pain is required for people to take action then it's pain I'll take.  Boycotting gas while still driving your car won't do it.  Though we may complain, the price on the sign is what we are still willing to pay, and we prove it by every gallon we buy.

OK, rant-a-riffic!  I should have just kept my mouth shut.

rant, gas prices, public transportation
