[This is not a New Feather. No, not really. He's already well settled in and decided that even with the free show he saw in the plaza earlier, he doesn't particularly care for this place. At least the library provides some good reading, which is where he can be found for most of the day, or later at home if anyone decides to bother him there. He ( Read more... )

[Porom's already starting to settle into a very set schedule, clinging to the stability that deciding what to do and when to do it and then getting it done offers. When Palom returns home it is, apparently, 'reread the guide very carefully for about the third time' time and she is seated in the living room and reading. She responds without looking up when she hears the door.]

Palom? Welcome home.

Thanks. [He's carrying a small stack of books with him. Being the boring sibling he is, he drops the books, rather loudly, next to the chair before picking one up and leafing through it. Loudly.]

[She concentrates harder on the guide, reading and rereading one part in particular before she finally closing the journal and looking up.]

This place has its' own magic.

[He doesn't look up from leafing through his book.]

The filial magic, right. I'll probably give it a try.

[She stands and goes to be nosy and see what the other books her brother brought back from the library are.]

Remember to be courteous to the spirits if you do.

I'm always courteous.

[And then he notices what she's doing and he looks up at her and glares.] What are you doing?

[She only responds to that with a humourless 'Ha.', ignoring the glare.]

I'm looking at the books.

[He blocks her view, followed by an annoyed snort.]

There's plenty of books at the library if you want to go pick some out. Right now, these are mine.

[She moves to the side to try to look from a different, less blocked angle.]

I'm not going to read them, I just want to know what they are.

[Standing up now because this is ridiculous.]

It's not any of your business!

[As if things not being her business ever stopped her.]

I'm just curious. Let me see.

No. [He's picking up his books now, he'll read in his room.]

[Foiled! She's not going to follow him into his room. It's practically a rule. And it's not worth breaking an almost-a-rule to find out what books he has. She instead snorts in annoyance and makes a very big deal of going into her own room and slamming the door.

She leaves him to his reading for a while, busying herself with looking back through the journal to see what happened before their arrival and paying close attention to any mention of the spirits. It's about an hour later when she knocks on his door.]

Hey. Did you eat yet?

[Satisfied at her annoyance, Palom is able to get plenty of reading accomplished before he's once again interrupted by that knock on the door. He manages to be not completely annoyed when he answers.]

Not since lunch. You have something in mind?

I was going to prepare dinner. Are you hungry?

[There's no mention at all of 'you have to help out' so it's probably a peace offering rather than standard 'are you eating properly?' nagging. Or at least it's a peace offering as well as 'are you eating properly?'.]

Oh, sure.

[Given how little he actually has to do, he figures he'll help make the dinner anyway. Better to do that then have her hold it over his head later.] What are we making?
