A hypothetical question for all of you out there. Let's say you are surrounded by people from, say, seventeen years in your past. Let us also say that something horrible is going to happen to them within a few years and no amount of warning from the future can save them. So the question is: how do you tell someone you consider to be something of a ( Read more... )

[Katara follows along with this in her usual concern... until he gets to the a part about baldness. That sound that you hear is the sound of a 'facepalm.']

Well that's hardly helpful.

Well, if you're asking me, I'd say you should tell them to be glad that a little bit of baldness is all they have to worry about in five years.

Some men are very sensitive about their looks.

Well, there are more important things to worry about. Considering what you could be telling them, some hair loss isn't all that bad.

I could certainly tell them a lot of things. How are they to know any of it's true? Or will be true? Maybe their future isn't the one I'm from.

[Blink, blink. You have momentarily made her head hurt. She shakes it off.]

Well, then they've got nothing to worry about at all. And you shouldn't have to worry about telling them anything.

Yes, brilliant advice. You must feel proud, hm? It should be fairly obvious I'm not concerned at all.

Oh, believe me, that's perfectly obvious. I wasn't going to say anything at all, but hey - you asked.

[A bit wrly:] I'd be surprised if they didn't. And if they are your friends, I hope you'll handle it better than just 'forgetting' to filter a message to them. We might not remember things when we get home, but... we still have to live with what we learn here.

Ah yes, the futility of everything in this world. It's really rather interesting. I could sabotage my relationship with all of them and have no consequences waiting for me at home.

[Well, you're even more of a brat than she thought.]

That's right. Just the consequences for however long you're here.

[The term is jerk, thankyouverymuch.]

Yes. One of my 'friends' seems to be really testing that theory. I'm pretty sure I don't want to follow his example.

[What kind of a brat corrects someone's insults in parenthesis?]

That's probably a good idea. Life can be... challenging enough here.

[Shut up woman. :|]

You'd have to be a real idiot to make things worse for yourself.
