Summer TV ramblings

Here are some thoughts about the summer TV on SciFi (for the record, I refuse to acknowledge the current misspelling of that channel's name), which I'm generally very much enjoying. Spoilers for everything that's aired so far, but nothing beyond the previews for this week.

I would definitely recommend watching Haven from the beginning. Do you have Netflix? They released the first season on DVD not long ago, so that could be a good way to catch up, and there are only 13 epsiodes. It makes me super happy - and makes me long to go back to Maine and Nova Scotia. Besides the awesome stories, the scenery is stunningly beautiful.

Hopefully Jinks is there to stay. For most of the first season, Allison Scagliotti was listed as a guest star, and she said it was just a quirk on her contract that they didn't make her a regular cast member till the second season. So hopefully the deal with Aaron Ashmore will be similar. I don't ship him with anyone at this point (I definitely don't see him with Pete or Artie), but hopefully he'll meet someone nice at some point, though relationships don't tend to work out too well for Warehouse agents, or really anyone with such an all-consuming TV job. And that is at least one comfort about not having a job I love; at least it leaves me way more time for real life.

As cute as the Warehouse 13/Eureka crossovers were, I couldn't really take Claudia/Fargo all that seriously. I love them both, but I don't think they work together. But Holly is kind of perfect for Fargo. Though I'm also entertained by the triangle with Wil Wheaton's character and how she seems completely oblivious to it. She's so adorable :)

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I've never actually seen Dr. Horrible. I don't really know why; I love Nathan Fillion, Neil Patrick Harris and Joss Whedon, and I feel like a bad fan. So I clearly need to remedy this. Is it still something one has to find online or is it out on DVD?

I'll have to see about getting the 1st season of Haven on DVD then.

I hope Jinks is here to stay, too. As long as Syfy doesn't get a bug up it's but and cancel it like they canceled Eureka (bastards!)

I loved the Fargo/Holly/Parrish triangle, too. The 3 of them stole the show. Felicia Day tweeted that she's back in next week's episode (still haven't watched the one from last night--I was too upset after finding out they were canceled).

I think Dr. Horrible can still be found on itunes besides DVD. The DVD has all sorts of extras including commentary that is sung. I only ever had it on itunes (which I lost when we switched computers--forgot to save it). I'm sure they're still up at youtube, too.

When they first came out Joss tried to clamp down on that because each part was released for only a short time. Then you could buy them all at itunes. But, of course, people pirated them and they went up all over myspace and youtube so Joss just put them back up at the main site for the longest time. He said something like he wasn't that worried about leaving the free copies up because the real fans were still buying from itunes and patiently awaiting the DVDs at the time.
