It was time to read more Bill Bryson, and when I found that parts of Neither Here nor There: Travels in Europe included his friend Stephen Katz from A Walk in the Woods, it was the clear choice. I love Bill Bryson so much! His memoir of his childhood is well worth reading -- The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid, I think it's called. I'm sure about the Thunderbolt Kid part. It's a reference to a childhood fantasy about being a superhero whose powers are, get this, the ability to zap anyone who is stupid.

They're both a lot of fun. I mean, Katz isn't someone you'd want to vacation with (at one point during the book, Bryson wrote something along the lines of "the best thing I can say about spending the summer in Europe with Stephen Katz is that it spared the rest of America his company"), but he's hilarious to read about.
