Wrote this about a year ago and then just completely forgot about it until I found it sitting around in one of my misc folders the other day. At first, I was seriously confused, wondering “what the hell spawned this?” and then I realized that it was me. Yep.

Y'know, I used to think I disliked AUs, but that dislike just falls by the wayside when my favourite writers write 'em!

Anyway, I liked this a lot. I have a thing for Sanji/Usopp too, their interactions in canon are pretty sweet. There were lots of details I liked in this, but maybe my favourite was Usopp being happy about getting the French elective he wanted. I actually didn't get what that meant on first read, but then it popped into my head later, and I was like, "of course!" and "awww" all at the same time.

This fic also resounded because I happened to be in NYC just yesterday, so the mentions of various areas and subway lines made me go, "hey I was just there"...but that's an incidental point XD

Lastly, TT_TT on Merry the apartment.

EEEEEEEEE thank you! I admit, I really like AUs, if they're not too gratuitous... if that makes sense.... I'm glad you enjoyed this one! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

If I had to choose a pairing, I think Sanji/Usopp would be my favorite because it's just so-- sweet. I feel bad though, because every time I write them, they don't really end up together, and I'm just like, sorry guys. :(

Also, I love New York. It is the city of my heart and soul and bones, and how I feel about it really just set the tone for this fic. Now that I think about it, that's probably why it was so easy to write. It was like everything was already there XD Anyway, I hope you enjoyed your time in NYC!

Oh my goodness, I love this. ;~; I'm a complete sucker for AUs, but only well written ones, and you write beautifully. Everything is believable in a modern setting, but the characterization was still wonderful.
