Ack! Because work hadn't worn me out enough.. actually, it hadn't, but it's fun to bitch.. I brought home the boys, who immediately made a mess. Alex goes to the bathroom. Ashton goes in behind him and comes out screaming. Alex plugged up the toilet and now Ashton can't uuuuuuuse it! GR!! Since they can't decide who stopped it up, I send them both to plunge. A few minutes later Ashton comes out crying because Alex got toilet water on the seat. Jeez. Back they both go to get out the clorox wipes and clean the seat.
Ashton comes out and we settle into a noisy round of homework. Something is niggling the back of my mind, but I'm focused on homework, so I do my best to ignore it. Finally, it will be ignored no longer and I shush the boys and listen. Sure enough, I hear water running, so I get up to investigate. In Sean's bathroom, the sink has been stoppered and the water left running. It has now over flowed the sink and is puddling on the floor. BOOOOOYS! GET IN HERE NOW! Alex politely claims responsibility. It was his fault because Sean was washing off some toys for him.
All three spend about 15 minutes using whatever towels they can find to soak water off the floor and wipe it off the walls. Then they spend another 5 minutes putting the towels in the washer and finishing the end bits in the bathroom. Sean comes back to the livingroom and says, "Thanks for making us cooperate, Mom." Double take. Who is this child?!
Alex comes to read a short story to me and stands just behind me, kind of reading over my shoulder. Suddenly I hear "Uh oh... I'm sorry, Mommy." Good grief, what now!? Alex sheepishly admits he just got his gum tangled in my hair. My hair!! I feel his fat little fingers picking at the mess he's made and cringe, knowing he's just getting my hair more enmeshed in gum. He's muttering that he's sorry, he sure hopes that gum will come out. At that point I was amused and struggled not to laugh at him as I swatted his hands away and went to work on the gum myself, fully prepared to have to cut a chunk out. Thankfully it didn't come to that. Yet another crisis averted.
Wonder what other adventures await us before everyone's asleep. :) I love my boys. I really do.
