Balloon boy hoax?! THOSE BASTARDS they didn't kill Falcon!

Wow, I am constantly amazed at people, when I don't think they can do anything further to shock me.
Balloon boy hoax. I wake up to a computer full of headlines about it.

First.
I live in Colorado, in the very track that the balloon travelled. Yes, we were all on the edge of our seats yesterday, sending thoughts prayers, and good wishes for that little boy's safety, and for his family. Yes, the news was covering it all day.... SO F'ING WHAT?!
I actually saw a twitter post in which the idiot posting cursed out a six year old for "stealing his afternoon" due to the news coverage, and said individual's inability to tear himself away from it. WTF?!!!!

Second,
No, I have not watched all the videos, or listened to Falcon's oh so eyebrow raising statements about " doing it all for the show "
The child is SIX years old, and as much as it seems that the public now resents it, he is alive and well.
And even if it was a hoax , the bottom line here is the fact that the child is alive, and well, and did not fall thousands of feet to his death on the Colorado prairie just north of DIA. HOW DARE THE LITTLE BASTARD BE ALIVE?! HOW DARE HIS FAMILY BUILD THAT THING?! HOW DARE THEY HAVE A POTENTIAL TRAGEDY THAT WE MUST ALL WATCH UNFOLD LIKE A BUNCH OF AMBULANCE CHASING BLOOD THIRSTY VULTURES, and then not be granted the view of this child's body being removed from crumpled wreckage,
or the view of him plummeting to the earth from 8000 feet. Yes, dammit all, he's alive. HE'S ALIVE. For the love of anything left sacred on this planet, the most important thing out of all this is that he's ALIVE AND WELL. So his parents are freaks, so they were on WIFESWAP. WHO CARES?! So they grabbed the world's attention for a couple of hours and made people give a damn about someone else's child. Wow...

Third,
If there is a point to all my ranting, I suppose it would be this.
This country sucks up all the crap it can about:
Which celebrity is adopting a child from which country?
Whose pseudo famous bits get caught on film by some scum sucking paparazzi leech?
Who killed a drug addicted pseudo celebrity by getting her illegal prescriptions? How many weeks did the rank and file of this land suck down endless coverage on Anna Nicole's death, and then the custody battle over her child?
And how many hours of coverage did the news broadcast with endless views of Michael Jackson's body being moved to the Coroner's office?
Look, we were given a happy ending. For a couple of hours we all hoped for a miracle. In the end that is what we were given.

If they did create this entire thing, then yes, shame on them for making people utilize all their time and energy to find Falcon.

If they didn't, and this needs to be considered, then the shame falls on "us" for being selfish, cynical, jaded human beings, who would far more readily grab at the idea of a hoax, so we can point at these parents and say how horrible they are.
Because of course, we are all so much better than them...? I'd never let my child play near that kind of thing. Oh, well my kid wouldn't ever be unsupervised..

No, I don't agree with all the ways that these people raise their kids, and yes their neighbors have said that they are strange, different, odd, unique, etc...

But, they have also said that the children seem happy, have lots of friends in their neighborhood, and seem very well adjusted.
The neighbors also readily mobilized to help look for Falcon. The Heene's must be doing something right..

And since when is it a crime to be different in this country? So they don't have a regular lifestyle? So what? To all appearances they seem to be tax paying members of society. The neighborhood they live in, is near Fort Collins about 57 miles North of Denver, and not what I would call a poor neighborhood.

Just stop the mockery, cute little sketches on late night, and the snarking about it being fake. There's an endless supply of real tragedy out there, on a global scale. Come on! Work up fire about all the horrors that we know are genuine. Use all that rage to actually do something proactive to make the planet better. If it's fake, and you got snookered, get over it. If it made you feel to know that child might've been in danger, and it made you feel to know his parents might never see him again, be glad. At least you know you're still capable of it. Be glad that despite the shallow media, and yellow journalism, that passes for news, that you gave a damn. Don't be pissed at the ending.
