so im pretty bored of writing my essay so i guess an update is necessary
this past weekend was quite fun
i went to nas on friday and it was quite amazing. he was realllllly high like 90% of the audience and forgot alot of the lyrics but he was insane nonetheless. it really felt like the end of 8 mile and was def. an experience. the knux were awesome (i need a fresh cappuccino with a mocha twist) and the whole night was easily the best experience with live rap ive ever had. (kanye is pop compared to this show) we (jeremiah and i) were realllly high for it and i guess jeremiah hated it, but then again its his own fault he hated it. just a good time all around.
on another note i got animal collective tickets for toronto in may and am reallllllly excited about that.
were gonna go down and get a hotel room and get fucked up in canada and see one of my favorite new bands. really cool.
ive gotten alot of new music this past weekend.
i was opened up to nas' back-catalogue which is great but i also discovered
CRYSTAL CASTLES
ive known about them for some time but never really gotten into them
i guess i assumed they were like a deerhoof band (slow and melodic) but they rock
been watching alot of skins which i highly recommend to anyone. its a brittish show about badass teenagers who do drugs and party. kinda like less than zero but from 10 different perspectives. had one of the best season finales of any show ive seen, other than lost. which brings me to lost. ohhhhhh man its so great. season 4 was all about answering past questions and providing the action and ratings boost the show needed. i'm all for that stuff but i love lost for the mysterious and plain weird plot devices which are pretty much only confined to lost as of late. and season 5 delivers everything i want and more. its just so good.
pessimism
and pretty much the last main thing happening in my life right now is my experimental project. its a choose your own adventure movie. at first i was optimistic about it, then we wrote it and it turned out to be way to much to handle. it has 134 different scenes to shoot, tons of special effects and like 40 something different endings, and that's assuming we can figure out how to put it together on a dvd. here's an example as to relate to you how ambitious this project is. last quarter, in the fall, we spent 10 weeks filming 10 scenes for different crews. This project has 134 scenes, and we didn't finish writing it until week 4, meaning we had 6 weeks to film 13x the amount we filming in an entire quarter last quarter. chris wanted to up and quit, and do something different. were working together and i refused.
optimism
well after a week or two of depression and panicking i stepped up and just dove into it. i chose to shoot it on VHS to give it a weird aesthetic paying homage to the home-movies of the 90's, clueing the audience in to the fact that this isn't real and letting them just have fun with it. slowly but steadily we started shooting and got some stuff done, but it wasn't looking good. after this past weekend we shot 36 scenes in 3 days (which is a shit ton) and i got them all edited. the dvd is actually easier than we both thought it would be and we still have another 3 weekends (9 full days) to finish the remaining 80 scenes, which is entirely possible. not to mention when we started watching it, its actually fun as HELL to watch. our ideas are pretty brilliant if i don't say so myself and the entire project has honor show written all over it.
examples of things you do in our choose your own adventure that you can't do in anything else
-choose to rape a chick
-choose to get high
-choose to watch cash cab
-choose between cocaine or sex
-be in a shitty 90's sitcom entitled, "Me & My Whore"
-defend your house from the wet bandits from Home Alone, with real Home Alone footage
seriously it doesn't sound that cool on paper but its great in reality.
now if i could only grasp microeconomics...
