swerving curves and windshield smears
chasing clouds and switching gears
beautiful housewives in their husbands trucks
gaggling geese and swooping ducks
bold green vistas that meet the sky
windows down and the music up high
windswept valleys and scenic plains
wildflower yellows and knee-high grain
vultures swoop to peck at prey
antique shops from back in the day
bathing cows all over this land
crawling creatures as big as your hand
electric wires that eat at trees
dragonflies, swallows and centipedes
and then the day is gone too soon
but what a beautiful afternoon
