Disappointment
Was getting ready for work when on the news they explained that an 18 year old was shot and killed on work site. When I signed in this morning, I overheard an administrator mention it to the wood shop teacher. I did see a few cop cars by the gym where they said the boy collapsed and died. I dunno. It made me feel rather gloomy. Thing is, he would have had to enter through the gate that is the closest to the bungalow in which a few of us are located. It's the southernmost part of the school and the furthest from the main office. At night, it is poorly lit. When I left yesterday at 5:30pm, I did notice how dark it got and how there were so many kids still hanging out hiding in the corners with their significant others. I saw the glow of a few cell phone screens in the dark and it was the only way I knew for sure someone was even there. Scary.
Anyway, that frickin' blows. The kid was 18 and was a former student. Obviously he recently graduated. Some of my students said that he was trying to leave his gang so they killed him. People piss me off.
