The Seduction by circe-tigana. Elizabeth/Jack, Mature, 3500 words.

On the passage from England, before they encountered Will Turner and the shadow of cursed pirates, before they even cleared the Channel, one of the sailors tells her about the Prince of the Sea.

He finds her sitting alone in the bow, nervously watching the waves break against the ship. Every mate aboard knows that to speak to the Governor’s daughter without chaperone could mean his career, if not his life. But he is a kindly soul, with three little ones of his own back in Portsmouth, and the girl is young and alone and clearly frightened. Out of bed during the small hours of the night. No one come looking, not even that grand father of hers.

“Don’t be afraid of the water,” the sailor tells her.

“It’s so big,” she says, and he can see that this is truly what she finds panicking. Looking out at the eerie, empty mist rising into the pre-dawn quiet, such fear is too easy to comprehend.
