It's aliiiive! Also, a 2011 TV meme.

First things first, an excuse: I've lost the hard drive in my main computer, along with all my favorite movies, photos, graphics, music and past school projects (so, goodbye the large part of my portfolio). I wasn't even that angry or sad, just resigned. Maybe it's just my thing, you know, destroy every electronic device I touch. That's what I ( Read more... )

I will be interested to see how S3 goes, since Elena's other love interest Stefan has fallen off the wagon in a MAJOR way. Really, though, when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter who's been killing the most recently, they're both killers period, and she'd need her head examined for having anything to do with either of them at any point in the series. But fandom seems to be a war over which brother is "better" *sigh*

To be honest, I don't really care about who Elena ends up with. Stefan didn't turned out to be as boring as it had seemed at the beginning, but I don't have any strong feelings for him, positive or negative. He's sort of just there. Damon I disliked essentially from the get go, mostly for Ian Somerhalder's acting. But the thing is, in fact, that I can't relate to Elena. She's a mystery for me, and not exactly in a good way. I even tried to read meta about her character, but I just can't understand her motivations. Why she would be attracted to any of them, especially once she found out about their nature? I heard she is supposedly "a fixer", but I don't see it? At least with Buffy I got that she would like dark and dangerous guys because she needed a mirror for her slayer side. The attraction to Angel and Spike was understandable. While in Elena's case, how could she even consider a relationship with shady Stefan? Or downright psychopathic Damon, who not so long ago killed her brother? (the fact that he didn't succeed is irrelevant)

I'm not attacking any of the characters, I just don't get them. Maybe I could, if the series was more interested in carefully developing them, instead focusing on constant twists. I usually like fast paced series, but they have to offer me something besides shocks and non-stop action. Yes, TVD is definitely interesting and addictive, and I don't deny it's objectively very good show. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way it lost me. I think it was the moment they killed Anna - she was my favourite and for a moment actually made me care about Jeremy just a tiny bit. Oh well.

Honestly, I think there's a suspension of disbelief in any show where a girl chooses to go out with a vampire. Even in Buffy, I never got her instant and desperate attraction to Angel in S1.
