Marlene had spent the day contemplating what they'd talked about the last time. Studying the map, thinking about the places he'd told her about, the things he'd said about the sky and the pet snake named Josephine and the way the town she came from was smoggy and industrial. The more she thought about Einbroch, the more she realized she knew about it, even though she couldn't remember where she'd picked up any of that knowledge
