Two weekends...

Two weekends have passed since my last update. My life is either too boring to talk about or too exciting to get time to talk about it....I'm guessing the former.

Last weekend was my birthday weekend. Friday a few friends over and we drank. I haven't drank in a while and usually when I do it isn't that much. But I got drunk. REAL DRUNK. Saturday was spent nursing myself out of one of the worst hangovers I've ever had. Also this weekend Laura's 6-year old niece came and stayed with us for a bit. I had to spend a lot of time on DS pictochat to keep her occupied. I really don't remember having that short of an attention span at that age. I remember spending entire evenings engrossed in a single activity, like Nintendo or Transformers. We took her back to Joliet Monday evening and as an added bonus I stopped by my parents' house to say hi to them and my sister.

Later in the week, Laura let Family Video have their company party at our place. I really couldn't get into it since I didn't really know anybody and half the time they just talked about work. I also had to work the next morning and was already partied out from the weekend. They also decided to move the party from the basement to upstairs as soon as I decided to go to bed. I got a bit of sleep, but eventually called into work late (it's nice to have a bendable schedule) to actually get enough to be workable.

This last weekend I spent watching movies and reading. Nothing particularly has hit me recently movie-wise, though I'm hoping AMC theaters will do what they did last year and have a weekend marathon with all 5 Academy Award Best Picture Nominees shown at once. I have yet to see any of them but most look at least interesting enough to watch, especially for the relatively discounted price of a marathon.

On a much sadder note, I found out Friday that one of my friends from high school who'd I occasionally see at parties and get togethers afterward, Sean McGrath, died suddenly. This is the first death that has really hit me since he was my age. I'd known him since at least middle school. I'll be heading down to Yorkville for the Wake this Friday night. It has still not fully sunk in though I'm sure once I get there reality will drop down upon me.

movies, birthday
