FANIME 2011 CON REPORT
HOMG I'M USING LJ AGAIN \o/
I skipped last year's con report cuz last Fanime was kind of a disaster (except the BECK group, the BECK group pretty much saved the con for me ♥), but this Fanime MORE THAN made up for it. Cosplay/photoshoot-wise this has been the most relaxed Fanime so far, but on the other hand I actually went to panels this time and made full use of my badge. I went to my first guest panel(s)! AND LEFT THEM WITH STORIES TO TELL FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE until everybody gets sick of me telling them over and over about that one time at the Furuya panel at Fanime 2011.
Friday
- arrived ~1PM and deposited stuff at evanae's room
- decided to postpone Soul Eater, tagged along with Cindy and eeveil to Target for last minute shopping; new Taikoubou black long sleeved tee get!
- dicked around in Hilton 0714 before putting on guido hair and epic eyeliner eyebrows in preparation for --
- nerdcore's Hanna is Not a Boy's Name group! It was SUPER FUN. We did a bunch of boyband/magazine cover poses and some hilaribad cheezeface ones XDD I did a lot of eyebrow flexing.
- a wild toggy appeared! She used Hanna Girly Fist Attack on pkgaming! It was not effective.
- went to dinner at Bo Town with Mi-ne and Charlie, with Lamont's guido hair and epic eyebrows intact. I felt like the Asian waitress was judging me just a little harder than Asian waitresses usually do.
- dragged all my stuff from Hilton 0714 to Marriott 2024 where I'm actually staying; ran into castor on the way~
- went with mirai_noah to breepants' room where we drank, ate Super Smores (Nilla Wafers + marshmallow + Nutella) and told sordid dramarama tales around a campfire in a pile on the bed
- ...aaaand we had an accident at our room later that night which I helped clean up cuz I felt it was karmic justice for what I did in yafromuk's room at Fanime the year before u_u
- SLEEP
Saturday
- got into China! ...After about 45 minutes of finagling with a safety pin for the robe to close properly cuz I was too lazy to sew snaps.
- was joined by Browan (Boy Taiwan) yuan_18 as I was getting ready
- found Mi-ne and Charlie in line, drew on her Doa face tattoo, took a pic with a military China and a SUPER CUTE GIRL CHINA eeeeeee *~*
- went to H0714 to powwow with konishii as Hong Kong and evanae whom we bullied into Taiwanning for us \o/
- CHAR BOR* AHH WHY YOU TAKE SO LONG TO PUT ON MAKE UP? YOU PUT ON SO THICK, THEN YOU COME HOME, AND WHAT YOU DO? YOU TAKE IT ALL OFF!
- derpy dysfunctional Chinese family for the next 2 hours - had a mini shoot with Nergene~
- IT'S AMURO TIME! Got in line with mirai_noah - and ran into college friends shadowfox85 et al! Had a fun time catching up.

- got an exclusive $10 Furuya clear folder to qualify for a Super Secret Fan Meet & Greet the next day 8]
- Gundam Gathering! \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ I-I really need to start bringing new Amuros to the gathering x_X;
- SCREW THE YUYA CONCERT no offense Yuya I'M TOO PUMPED FULL OF ADRENALIN and Jet wanted more China family times
- so back into China I get~ and we all head out to dinner
- en route to dinner we get rained on by shitty and psychotic bay area summer 2011 weather
- but we got Baja Fresh so it was all good.
- China famiry went back to con center and tried to do some karaoke but there were technical difficulties up the wazoo so Browan and I did a capella open mic and gave the audience 3 free songs B] you're welcome, audience
- Hetalia After Hours panel was ehhhh but fun/silly nonetheless and we got hot chocolate from Jet :>
- ACTUALLY SLEPT 7 HOURS WOW

Sunday
- hung out with ensuing for a bit in the Marriott lobby! And exchanged tales of awesome guest panel experiences
- FUCKING RIBBONS TIME; I love how each time I decide to retire this costume something happens that makes me bring it out again even though it doesn't really fit me anymore and is now a bitch to get in/out of orz
- got in line for the 2nd Furuya panel at 10am; number of attendees was half of that the day before, and I was the only Gundam cosplayer there :'(
- lol sat in the same spot as I did on Saturday
- DAMN YOU Q/A LINE STOP ASKING MY QUESTIONS!!!! o9"
- so, with no questions left to ask, I just stood tl;dr-ing in halting Japanese at Furuya about how awesome Ribbons is because Furuya voiced him
- and asked him for something that I would be far too respectful and embarrassed to ask for if my evil bully enabler friend Mi-ne hadn't been there, ENABLING ME

- got a picture taken with him as Ribbons! *A* and a page from my Gundam artbook signed~
- he seated everyone to take a group photo-- AND THEN HE SQUEEZED IN BETWEEN ME AND mirai_noah TO TAKE A GROUP PHOTO WITH EVERYONE KYAAAAA
- I have no idea how we would ever find these photos cuz the man doesn't have a Twitter but I WILL DIE TRYING
- Gundam Con 2011 is officially over. お疲れ様でした！
- aaaand finally change into Taikoubou. The hat-ears stayed put remarkably well! GO SELF
- wandered around con for a bit with Mi-ne; was recognized/stopped for photos approximately eight times! FUCK YEAH ALL YOU COOL KIDS WHO KNOW HOUSHIN ENGI!! It was a big day for me.
- helped konishii get into her Shinkouhyou costume
- HOUSHIN ENGI TIMES for a tiny bit before I had to go to Masq XD;
- masq was mmmmmmm okay? On average it's better, in that there were far fewer dumb/random/horrible skits this time, but there was also nothing very outstanding? The ones that really stood out to me were the Scott Pilgrim one and martial arts Avatar one. *__*
- skipped out on the judging lolol and chilled with konishii before going with her and Dan for a Houshin mini shoot
- then RIPPED THAT HAT OFF MY HEAD ilu hat but you were squeezing all my brains into the crown of my head @_@
- Kristen, Dan, Scott, fullmetal_tora and I trekked out to Jack in the Box to eat, but apparently, so did every crackhead, hooker and brotha in a 2 mile radius of downtown SJ. SKETCHY JACK IS SUPER SKETCHY
- so FUCK THAT NOISE, we're going to IHOP! Thanks to free parking Sunday at my favorite parking structure in SJ, I rolled my car right out of that garage at no charge \o/
- 2am + delirious con-goers + one-way streets and unexpected turns = ADVENTURE TIME
- we were SOOO HUUUNGRYYYY it was hard to not order everything on the menu
- Cisy and Kristen had bits of my chicken florentine which I fed them via plane, choo-choo train and the Death Star
- wanted to do the Tardis too but I probably can't spin my fork without my florentine flying everywhere so we had to pass :(
- DELIRIOUS DRIVE BACK, and the coldest 2 blocks I've ever had to walk from garage to hotel @_@

Monday
- half got into Spartoi Black*Star, packed up all my shit, and hauled it out to my car with Alli
- went to Girls Guide to Gundam panel by Jet and Mirai! I love being amongst Gundam peeps, our numbers may be few but we're like a close-knit famiry ;u;
- lol a Stein stopped me on the way to dealer's hall and I gave her my B*S autograph o/
- hung out in dealer's hall, finally bought swag! Like an APH Asias fanart antho, and... a Charo. (A red haro.) The blue one was too dark and looked like the Trinities' evil Haro :(
- went to lunch at Hydration with Cindy, Kristen et al~ thought "veg steak" meant veggie AND steak, not vegetarian steak ~_~ oh well it was yummy all the same
- got into girly*Star cuz binding was killing me, and got a few pics taken by Cindy. Thanks Cindy ♥
- drove Alli out to her country club home out in the SJ hills LOL
- drove home half asleep orz
