art dump #171 - Inception [1 sketch]

I have like 2 other linearts still in the works and not colored yet T__T
Sketched last night, lackluster cuz it was too late/I was too tired/I was too lazy to draw anything more uh committal.
AGH some failanatomy and failperspective here and there OH WELL orz
I wanna draw the rest of the cast!! WHY CAN’T I HAVE MORE TIME
So I went and saw Inception again this weekend, in IMAX this time. 5498x MORE MINDBLOWING IN HI-DEF!! Now that my brain wasn't doing cartwheels trying to keep up with the plot I was able to grasp the concepts much better and catch details and nuances like "oh this is because that happened on one level before". So fucking gratifying. Thank you Chris Nolan for making a movie that makes me work to get it cuz when you get it the feeling is fucking incredible.
Speaking of the details I caught, I was semi-freaking out throughout the movie this time cuz this is like THE CULMINATION OF MY FAVORITE NERDY THINGS and I was seeing all kinds of parallels to ANIMU and VIDEO GAMES and TV SHOWS and I just love how the things I love help me to get other things I love.
Angel Beats! - most of which I've watched through before I saw Inception and THIS ANIME in some ways prepared me for the movie WTF. Just saw the last 2 eps this week which parallels EVEN MORE with the movie: (spoilers for the series - TURN BACK NOW AND WALK AWAY) the fact that this alternate reality works on a system of rules which you can change or manipulate if you will them to. You can create realities and forge objects/weaponry out of memories and thoughts. There are NPCs that are not conscious souls which the system fills the world with, which later in the series attack the protagonists when their prolonged presence is perceived as an anomaly.
Persona 3: The Answer - where you find out that basically the Abyss of Time, its shadows and "Shadow Minato" were "all your regrets given form" for Minato's death, which I think Mal pretty much totally is. She's belligerent and doesn't want him to succeed because she's a mix of Cobb's final memories and his immense guilt. I've heard this motif is also present in Solaris (which I haven't seen yet.)
Fringe - EVERYTHING Just-on-the-edge-of-"out-there" science and technology? The idea of tapping into the uncharted reservoir of possibilities and powers of the mind? THIS? Fringe and Inception fans and ficcers out there, WRITE US A CROSSOVER. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
...why the hell don't I have an Inception icon yet O RIGHT cuz I only ever do LJ stuff at work anymore.
