A Duet for Dramatic Soprano and Kitty Contralto

I'm busy today, but efficient.

I've got most everything organized and prepared for the start of classes next week (check), I've turned the bunch of blackened bananas on my countertop into delicious loaves of banana bread (check), I posted another SS/HG rec on crack_broom (check), I did three loads of laundry (check) and I am about one drabble away from finishing a set (half a check). Go me! Amazing what can be accomplished after one's ingested two pots of coffee, don't you think? :D

Remaining on the To Do list is a double batch of white chocolate-raspberry bars for my mother. It turns out that she told her office that she would bring in some cookies tomorrow, which of course means that she wants me to make them for her. Nothing like having your services volunteered without being asked first, right? ~sigh~

I also tried to take some time to rehearse music today, as my choir has their first meeting tonight, after a hiatus for the summer. I wanted to take some extra time to warm up, because I haven't sung with them since before the pneumonia hit, and like any skill, it takes some conditioning to get back up to top speed. I was reasonably pleased--I'm a bit rusty, and my breath control isn't quite back up to pre-pneumonia standards yet, but it was a good showing overall, and my range hasn't suffered for the time off. (~whew~)

But the amusing thing is this: I cannot rehearse without luring Othello. Whenever I sing, he will come from wherever he is in the house and find me, so that he can sit there and "sing" with me. Then he rubs around my ankles and insists on being held. And held. And held. And held, essentially, until it feels like my arms are going to fall off. Then he wanders off when I'm quiet, only to come back each time I open my mouth to sing, so the whole process repeats. This makes rehearsal... interesting. And unusually cuddly!

Have you ever heard of such a thing? He doesn't do it for any other voices, including those on recordings. ~scratches head~ Perhaps it's one more quirk down to him being a Siamese, like his unnatural fondness for wool...
