A Glorious Fourth

I had a wonderful 4th of July, and hope the rest of you did as well. I had some family and friends over, including the Godkids, and we laughed, listened to music, soaked up the sun, played croquet and lit some sparklers. We stayed out after dark to watch the glittering displays by neighbors whose fireworks were larger, more impressive and ( Read more... )

Hah! I am a total foodie; I don't deny it. I've planned entire vacations around food! :D I don't actually eat a lot, and in fact, I'm notorious for forgetting to eat for a day or more when I'm preoccupied with something else, but what I do eat, I really like to enjoy. Frankly, if there isn't something the appeals to me, I'm just not hungry. Strange, isn't it?

A quiet day with reading and air conditioning sounds very good to me! I like having my family and friends around me, but I must admit that also cherish those lovely quiet times after they've all gone home, too. :D

Ha! Do you think Severus would let a little thing like heat stroke stop him?

Probably not! Then again, you're talking to somebody who's actually walked around in 80-degree heat wearing a black turtleneck sweater. I really do wear black more often than not, for a few simple reasons: 1) it goes with almost everything, 2) it looks good on me and 3) it packs a punch. I also loathe short sleeves, although there are exceptions. Summer clothing is so not my bag!

Still, the air conditioning in my office is capricious at best, and 'mind over matter' only goes so far, at least until I discover an ability to perform personal cooling charms. ;-) Unfortunately, I really, really did not find what I was looking for. Everything is covered in hideous prints and has cap sleeves and is apparently designed for women much taller than I am.

I was reminded of why I prefer 'simple, black, sleek and dramatic' as my personal style credo. Bring on the billowing black coat and the stompy boots!
