I read about this in a medical encyclopedia-- a way to speed clearing your lungs, uncomfortable but very useful.

Lie on your bed and then scootch until your torso is tilted over the side. The phelgm should start to move up by gravity, allowing you to cough it out. It isn't fun, but the phlegm is not just making it hard for you to breathe, but harboring the bacteria, so doing this should help speed recovery as well as making it easier to breathe after.

Oh, that's a good tip! My mother helped me out this morning by basically pounding on my back to break up some of the phlegm. It hurt in ways I don't think I can describe politely, but it was very productive. It's good to know that there are things I can do on my own to help get my lungs cleared out.

LOL! I do need the reminder to slow down sometimes, just because I do have deadlines to meet... but you're right. I don't want to just end up setting myself back even further.

Thanks so much for the concern! I'm trying to be easy on myself.

Yay! I'm so glad you're getting better and the new antibiotic is not so hard on your stomach.

It's great news, I think! I'm finally starting to feel something approaching an appetite, now that my stomach isn't tied in knots.

Yay for progress! Even if it's not as fast as I'd like, it's heading in the right direction.

I'm glad the doc switched the antibiotic, hopefully no more tummy problems. Take it easy and get well soon!

~hugs back~ Thank you! So far, no tummy problems, so I'm a very happy Bluestocking tonight. Or I would be, if the Red Wings were winning. *g*
