For those of you who requested that I post the recipe behind yesterday's cake pic spam, here it is! If you missed yesterday's post, you can view pictures of the cake in question here.
Whee! Thanks for posting this! Looks super quick and straightforward to make. And bonus: with the batter only needing one cup, that should leave quite a bit of Guinness over to be used as a fortifier during the baking process. *g*
No problem! It really is amazingly straightforward, especially for the results it gets. It doesn't have all the creaming and alternating of wet and dry ingredients that most layer cake recipes do.

~smirks~ I'm sure I wouldn't know anything about that! (Hee, yes, there's plenty left to enjoy.)
Thanks! we are going to try this, though it seems fearfully rich and not especially good for people who need to watch their cholesterol (that is, my parents).
You're welcome! You're right: it's not heart-healthy in the slightest (unless you really want to stretch and talk about the dark cocoa), but it is a wonderful cake to enjoy for a treat or special occasion.
I do recommend a slightly smaller piece than usual, though, just because the whole thing is quite rich.
I made this today for Easter dinner. Even just tasting it with the cake scraps and extra icing, it was delicious!! You were completely correct that it's a very easy cake to make. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
Thank you! I'm so happy that you've made the cake and enjoyed it. :-) I was happy to share it. It really is a cinch to make, with great results for minimal effort.
I hope your cake is a big hit!
(Also: It's nice to meet you! I've friended you back, and wanted to welcome you to the journal. Congratulations on delurking! I know it's tough, but as a former longtime lurker, I can promise you that you'll have a lot of fun.)
Cake Update: They loved it. Now officially dubbed "The Beer Cake," I've never seen anything disappear that fast! Thanks again for the wonderful recipe and the warm welcome!

Two quick questions:
1. I take it that the 1/4 cup of cocoa powder is for dusting the baking tins.
2. Does the all-purpose flour mean plain, or self-raising?
Reply
As for the flour, that means plain, not self-raising. Actually, I meant to put in a bit to clarify that! ~facepalm~ Thanks for pointing that out.
And yay for being able to make it! I hope it's a huge success. :D
