What Did Santa Do to Deserve This?

I was supposed to start baking today, but I had the opportunity to go shopping, so I took it. It was a good time for it; the snow had most people staying in, so the stores weren't very crowded. The roads are mostly passable, although some spots are still dicey for silly people who have decided to live in a northern climate without purchasing a vehicle with four-wheel drive (like yours truly). Luckily, my friend has a Jeep. :-)

I got several nice presents, so that's a few things crossed off my list. I also saw something that was so horrifyingly, hilariously ridiculous that I can't believe it isn't being marketed as a joke: a toilet seat cover that looks like Santa's face. Yes, really. I looked around online, and although I can't find the specimen that had me going O_o in the store, check this out to see something similar. You can also just Google "toilet seat cover, santa claus" and be appalled at the results you get.

Why? Honestly, why? What did Santa ever do to these manufacturers, for them to force him to suffer this indignity? Did he never bring them the Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine they wanted, no matter how many nice letters they wrote begging for it? (Oh, wait. That's me.) Still, I think it takes some real animosity towards the jolly old man to essentially make him eat shit. The example I linked to is being marketed as a joke, but most of the examples I found were dead earnest. I... don't know what to make of that.

Just for a laugh, for the PSoH people on the Flist: Count D would have everybody believe that all his outfits are custom-made, but clearly he shops at Norm Thompson. I swear he wore this in Volume 6. Who would ever have pegged him as a catalog shopper?

Tomorrow, I will start baking cookies. Really.

wtf, real life
