It still is, in a certain sense, but yes, I do mean the past tense. There was a very specific community spirit, and there were a number of very specific projects on which we worked, and those are gone now, and I do mourn that. At that time, we in Slytherin were a very cozy community; we had regular group chats, we were engaged in writing stories collaboratively, we were organizing review campaigns for those in need of love and support--and those things are gone. They won't be back. There will be other great times, and we may do similar things again, maybe even inspired by those experiences, but from a distance, I do recognize that it was a special and very happy conjunction of life circumstances and opportunity that allowed us to have that then. I feel grateful for that.
I think of it like the Harpies, in a way. Are we still Harpies? Of course we are; we always will be that to one another, and it will always be a special bond. But we couldn't write that story in the same way now, because the stars were lined up in just the right way then, and now life circumstances have changed for most of us. I'm so glad we wrote it when we did.
