Holiday Wishes
Step One:
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered ... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two:
Surf around your friendslist (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free -- do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf ... to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not; it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just ... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Right, okay. I’m the worst person at the world at asking people to give me stuff; I never make wish lists. I’d be stunned to get anything on this list, and frankly some of it is impossible. But here goes anyway:
1. I actually would like a Severus/Hermione icon that’s just for me. Ditto for Snarry and Snupin, which are the two other ships that interest me most. I have a great icon for my Snuna postings, but I don’t have any other relationship-specific icons, and I haven’t come across anything I like as yet.
2. A PSoH fic that features Leon and Hermaphrodite!D… and possibly their offspring? A slice of daily life from several years after they get together? Seriously, I’d just squee my fool head off at any PSoH Hermaphrodite!D fic.
3. An illustration of a scene from one of my fics or drabbles. I’d be thrilled with anything a person wanted to offer, but in particular I might like:
• Luna and Severus dancing in the snow, from Folie à Deux
• Eve and Linus together (On the train? Being sorted?), from Take Two
• Severus surveying his new bookshelves, from Sanctuary
• Severus totally psyching out Harry in The Bargain.
• Severus and Hermione putting champagne, strawberries and chocolate to good use in Louder Than Words
• Anything with young!Severus from To Make the Heart Grow Fonder
4. DH-compatible Snuna fic, wherein Luna helps Severus get out of his postwar funk. Actually, I’ll take anything with Snuna in it!
5. Any fic where Severus is not a Byronic, self-confident sex god, yet he somehow manages to fumble his way into a decent relationship with Hermione/Remus/Harry/Your Choice of Character anyway. (Note: if Hermione or Harry are involved, please let them be adults.)
6. Icons featuring Sherlock Holmes, anybody from Sandman, or Lucy from Peanuts.
7. A personal assistant who can do all the scut work that I’m supposed to do, so that I have more time to actually do pleasant things like write fic.
8. A dark-haired, brilliant, sarcastic bastard to call my own. Gift wrapping optional; it’s just coming off anyway. ;-)
9. Chocolate. Or marzipan. Or marzipan covered with chocolate.
10. Um. World peace? Financial stability? Longer legs? Insert unrealistic wish here.
