Something Every Day, Days 2 and 3

1. Happy Birthday to the incomparable, indefatigable, irreplaceable pyjamapants! I hope it's been a wonderful day, from the snowy morning onward. ~hugs you~

2. Day 2 of Juno's "Something Every Day" meme:

The thing that I did just for myself yesterday was to make a small amount of time to begin bringing up the holiday things and start to decorate. Progress is incremental--the tree is up but not yet decorated, wreaths are up, no lights yet--and it will take me a few days to finish at this pace, but still: it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Slowly. And that automatically puts me in a good mood.

I do genuinely love holidays. :D I feel all of twelve when this time of year rolls around.

Bonus something: listened to (and okay, yes, sang along with) Christmas carols as I was bringing the boxes up and getting started with the decorations. I also love Christmas carols, for which I make no apology. My favorite carols at any given moment are dependent on my mood and the situation and the direction of the wind, but I enjoy nearly all of them, provided they're not too cheesy. Oh, who am I kidding? I like them even when they are*. This was so effective at establishing a jolly mood that I wandered around most of today humming Slade's Merry X-Mas Everybody under my breath. (Can't decide which part of that song I like more, the triple pun in the line about "you've been slayed/sleighed/Slade" or the "IT'S CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAS!" at the end...)

*Except for "Happy Holidays," "Merry Christmas, Baby," and the Beach Boys' version of "Frosty the Snowman." Those can die in a fire.

3. Day 3 of Juno's "Something Every Day" meme:

To mark the end of the regular semester, I got a celebratory Mellow Mallow latte at Biggby.

I haven't been drinking many lattes these past several months (not because I don't love them, but for the good of my diet), but I made an exception today. When I was an undergrad at MSU and Biggby (then known as Beaners) was just an up-and-coming local East Lansing coffee shop, I used to study at the original Biggby frequently, and I always marked the end of another semester with a latte. Now there are Biggby cafes everywhere in Michigan (and several other states as well), and I've kept that tradition going. It was nice to continue it today. It might have been a nonfat, low-sugar version, but it still tasted like triumph. ;-)
