My cat just received an invitation to join the Libertarian Party. It is specifically addressed to "Otto Bluestocking."
Otto hasn't decided whether or not he wants to accept. He's long been a proponent of deregulation of feeding times, believing that all cats have the right to feed on demand, and he's also fought to have catnip and treats reclassified as non-controlled substances. Otto is also a fervent defender of his right to bear as many toy mice as he can "kill," and he resents any efforts to redistribute that wealth to other sneaky, less successful cats, such as certain Siamese cats who live in the same house but shall remain nameless.
However, he is disturbed by the party's lack of support for legislation that would outlaw baths and funny hats and also place strict controls on the practice known as "cat dancing," particularly where Lady Gaga is involved.
