I'm having one of those days where I attempt to be productive and it just doesn't happen, by no fault of my own. Ah well.
My mom is now a step-great-grandmother, and I find this amusing. She's pretty amused by this as well, and thinks it just about ideal for achieving grandmother-hood. She gets a new baby in the family, but not by her own disaster-prone offspring. She told her office she was going to be a great-grandmother, and everyone was extremely, understandably confused. My own romantic foibles have been a topic of discussion in the South Plains College English department for years now (as have been each new tattoo and body piercing).
My number one goal this evening is a much needed trip to the grocery store. I've run out of just about everything in my house to eat aside from half a bag of frozen okra and the boxes of cake mix my grandmother gave me a couple years ago. Also, I need a tire gauge and
a package of batteries for the vibrator I was given, still in its package sadly because I couldn't afford to power it. Sad, huh? But tonight, fresh produce, aired up tires, and masturbation! (I'm sure you wanted to know that, neh?) No, I don't plan on combining said activities.
Tomorrow, Enon is playing at Hailey's. Very much excited about this...you should go to if you're in the area, they're one of my favorite bands that is still doing things. Actually, the first time I met Dylan was at an Enon show; we talked about the Dismemberment Plan and I told him how I requested "Bra" and then blew him off because I had a boyfriend at the time and he was short. He didn't realize it was me until we'd been dating for a couple weeks, several months later. Life is funny.
I've been plowing though my stash of Good Eats, living off lima beans, and being pretty homebody-ish this week. Also, been reading a lot. My mom sent me a glorious pile of books last week, and I couldn't decide which one to read, so I decided to try to read them all simultaniously. Most enjoyable thus far has been M. F. K. Fischer's
The Art of Eating which is an anthology of 5 of her books, including How to Cook a Wolf, which was written in World War II on how to stretch food resources during food rationing.
Now, another attempt at productivity!
