1) This is the 1st of September, what do you want to accomplish by the 31st?

Oh God...I'm doing good if I can make a resolution for the whole year, much less a whole month. I'd like to get a new job, or at the very least, a raise. I'd like to stop running a deficit with each paycheck and start putting away money for my impending move to Dallas (it will happen). I'd like to stop feeling so stressed all the time.

2) What does September make you think about or feel?

Fall is a good time for me, so I usually feel hopefully as fall approaches. Plus, it signals a break in the blistering heat. Another couple months, and I'll actually get to break out scarves.

3) September is the ninth month; can you name nine memories so far from this year?

No, I don't remember 9 things that have happend to me. Just kidding
1. Drinking a good bottle of Italian wine with brokennotbeaten on the Fourth of July
2. Crazy guy at the coffee shop that didn't have a joke for a smoke.
3. Dylan breaking my heart the day before April Fool's Day
4. Catching up with Joe at Lou's a couple weeks ago.
5. Pho with Kat, after a too-long pho hiatus.
6. The best artichoke I've ever eaten.
7. Truly bizarre night at Lou's with just about everyone I know in town. Seriously.
8. The hallway filled with 1000 cranes in the Asian Art Museum in Dallas.
9. Watching Dave Bush drink three (3!!!) beers.

4) What does September have in common with three other months and can you name them?

It ends in "r" and as such, is a good time to eat oysters.

5) The first weekend in September signals the end of summer for many even though it doesn’t really end for weeks. When does summer end for you?

When it starts being comfortable to wear jeans outside.

fridayfiver Fill in the blank.
1. When I'm angry, I cry.

2. The first time I moved to Denton I also ate dinner at the Tomatoe.

3. I was born in Odessa, TX.

4. My favorite food is artichokes with lemon butter.

5 I laughed so hard when my entire department at my job went for our "pee party" in order to take our drug tests.

I've been a little anti-social as of late. I get tired during the week, and have difficulty splitting my time up satisfactorily between people I need to see. Wednesday I cooked dinner and stayed home, I didn't do a thing. Yesterday, I drove down to Dallas (which took 2 hours because someone flipped an SUV over Lake Lewisville) because Dylan's roommate was grilling ribs, something I love but have never attempted to make myself. We sat around for a whlie, drank a couple of beers (Bass...mmm!), sat around with our feet in the pool (too chilly to swim, at least for my wimpy self), and watched the Daily Show before I drove home, sleepy. I hate driving late at night, I pass the George Bush Tollway and find myself instantly sleepy, without fail.

Ingrid gets into town today; I'm trying not to freak out over this. Rather than allowing myself to sit around and be pissy over this, and since I've lost the ability to sleep in at all, even by my office monkey schedule, I went and drank coffee at Jupiter House and sat down with a few of the older fellows who sit around at the coffee shop--I love the fact that I can just sit down with random people and strike up a conversation. One of them writes erotic novellas that he publishes and sells in one of the local bookstores; he said once that he hopes the store is checking IDs on anyone who picks up his books, that he didn't want kids reading his stuff.

This weekend, I'm going to be lazy. Clean my house, cook some food, fight with the computer which still isn't working...that's just about it.

memes, friday five
