Flash Dance

So, I'm biting the bullet and attempting to learn Flash in my downtime at work (rather than obsessively reading food blogs, my default form of amusement aside from gmail and LJ, as well as Salon and the news).

Upon opening up my 30 day trial version of Flash, I have
-decided I didn't want to learn Flash on an empty stomach
-microwaved and eaten lunch
-checked my LJ friends page twice
-taken a phone call regarding placing newspaper ads (this is one of my job requirements, because having a BFA in communication design apparently makes me the most qualified person in the company for this)
-smoked a cigarette
-talked to coworkers
-and now I am updating my LJ

Can you tell I'm not exactly thrilled at attempting to learn Flash?

My weekend was pretty low-key, mostly because of not having the car. Friday, I went out with Joe, Kat M., and Des to Lou's, later meeting up with Alison and Eve, which was nice, I don't get to sit and drink with Joe too often. Saturday, I read most of an Oxford American, as well as about half of You Can't Win by Jack Black, which I highly recommend, especially if you are a fan of beat-style literature (this is the singlemost influential book for William Burroughs, and it's interesting reading a book that came out in the 1920s and seeing how directly it influences the beat writers). Around 8, I gave Kat L. a call to get her to rescue me from my house; I couldn't stand being there anymore and had already spent too much time alone in my head, and we went to Jupiter House for a bit. For the first time in ages, the annoying guy didn't ask me for a cigarette (however, we weren't sitting in front of the shop, instead sitting on the stoop of the courthouse, plus last time he asked I chewed him out, which made me feel mean, but oh well.) Sunday, more sitting around the house, finished the Jack Black, over to Joe's to steal music, then to Recycled where I picked up by Mark Kurlansky and The Man Who Ate Everything by Jeffrey Steingarten. Then beer at Lou's. I went home, bummed a ride to the grocery store to Kat in exchange for letting her raid my books, cooked some beef stew (I've had a craving ever since reading Sara Kim's article about beef stew with kim chee (okay, I didn't want the stew with Kim Chee, which I've actually never tried, but the stew sounded good, despite being unseasonal), read and called it an early night.

Today, my job is frustrating me, especially placing the newspaper ads, and I'm wearing uncomfortable shoes because my boss's boss was supposed to be in town (but isn't). Grr.

More ads now, then I'm cracking into Flash. Seriously.
