Kat M., Ingrid, and I popped down to Dallas to get out of Denton for a little while and eat a good meal. We went to Cosmic Cafe, and I shot this photo outside a vet's office/kennel nearby because it struck us as a little strange.

We stuck our heads inside the most upscale pet supply store I've ever been in. Nice leather collars (oh, Sam would look fabulous!), designer pet totes, cat boxes with various shapes cut out for the entry ("no rounded corner square for my cat's litterbox, Fluffy gets to stick his head out a heart when he takes a crap!"), not to mention meals you can cook with your cat featuring all natural, human grade, vegan ingredients. I don't, incidentally, think you should feed your cat a vegan diet. You can do it with dogs because they are onivores, but if feeding your kitty meat bothers a vegan, don't have a kitty. (end mini-rant)

Anyway, we went to Cosmic Cafe (which is one of my fave places to eat in Dallas, even more so back in my veggie days because I didn't have to point at dishes and ask "Is it safe?") and I ordered the Veggie, Rice, and Garden of Silence, the same thing I always get, because it's so fantastically tasty. The veggie, by the way, was my all time favorite spinach tofu curry...then again, I've only been there once when they had something else, which was also quite tasty (and easier for me to rip off at home...I still haven't made a satisfactory spinach veggie curry at home).

Anyway, here are some pictures, 'cause in addition to being tasty, Cosmic is pretty cool to look at!

After finishing our meal, we struck out to Buffalo Exchange to sell some clothes and see what was there. Unfortunately, there was a guy who was driving like an asshole, which made the guy driving the truck in front of me drive like an asshole, and everyone slammed on their breaks at a crowded intersection and I ended up rearending the truck in front of me. Fortunately no damage done, but still irritating...people in Dallas need to learn how to drive (or I need to stop driving like someone who drives where people know how to drive...or something).

I managed to pick up a new pair of shoes (brown ballet style slip ons with a kitten-heel that actually stay on my feet--I have comically slender feet, so when Mary Janes go out style, I can't find shoes that will not fall off my heels) and used the rest of the cash money from selling my clothes to pay myself back for spending more than $4 on a meal. Ingrid didn't have much luck because she was getting rid of some sweaters and Buffalo Exchange doesn't buy out of season much.

Then to Good Records to see the new location (nice!), though I was good and didn't get anything. Some other time...turns out the singer of Clem Snide has a new solo album out, so I'll check that out before too long.

We drove back to Denton trying to beat rush hour traffic, but there was an accident on 35 jamming up traffic on that interstate and the other one we had to take to get home...bleh.

And then we did "uninteresting things"...namely, Ingrid and I joined Dylan, Alison, Finn, and Daniel on our walkway (Kat had a hair appointment) and then went to Riprocks to eat greasy food (had to make up for that healthy, ritious meal we had earlier, afterall, by sending ourselves into a nacho stupor).

food, photos, friends
