it's july already? whoops.
so, recap: thesis STILL not done; not fully in job search mode either. wedding pictures will be coming, i promise!
what else?
we've been buying furniture & have a large percentage of it bought (ikea, mostly). still need a bunch of items (desk & chair, bookshelves, display-type cabinet, comfy chair for upstairs, etc). working on picking out paint colors and prioritizing maintenance stuff (updating the downstairs bath - mostly just cosmetic to make it look less dated/cheap - first, then water heater, then gutting the upstairs bath, then tackling the kitchen ... i think). also doing a bunch of yard work / landscaping. more on that all later, because i'd rather move on to pet ownership news :0)
we got a kitten on wednesday. yay, feline! we named her widget (she *was* named maxine, but we had to change it because "maxine" just isn't my/our speed. she's also only 9weeks old, and was only named last week, so ... not so much a big deal). widget's a black & grey stripped tabby with medium-length fur and grey-ish eyes. all floppy and big-earred and not totally aware of her own dimensions in the way a kitten often is. she's had most of her initial shots, was de-wormed and de-ear-whatever-ed, and fixed (widget's darwinian fitness? zero!). she's a shelter cat, but in the petsmart has shelter/rescue pets way. works for us, at any rate. cute as a button but utterly fearless. she also already wreaked havoc on our tivo, chewing through the wire that controls the channel-changing. oiy. so we're going to be very hardcore serious about the "NO" / removal of cat / spray bottle / bitter apple spray (we didn't get the bottle or the spray until last night).
so now it's time to shower and head into the city; trying to catch a little of the folk life festival and maybe meet up with one of luke's co-workers and his wife. happy 4th, and all that.
