Elsie Anderson, 84 - 11/21/2004

DILLON - Elsie Marie Anderson died Friday at Parkview Acres Care Center in Dillon.
Elise was born to Alonzo and Bertha (Short) Hanson, Feb. 4, 1920, in White Sulphur Springs. She was raised on the family ranch and attended school in White Sulphur Springs, graduating from high school at age 17. Elsie attended the University of Montana in Missoula, graduating in 1941 with a major in home economics and minors in business, Spanish, chemistry and education. She taught school in Stanford for one year, then taught at Fairfield High School for four years during which time she married Arthur Anderson of Fairfield, on Nov. 17, 1944, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Great Falls.

Art and Elsie made their home and farmed on the Greenfield Bench. As a devoted mother to her children, Joyce and Steve, Elsie was active with teaching Sunday school, 4-H Club work and being a Bluebird and Campfire leader. She was also involved in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, ALCW and Circle. In her later years, she liked doing ceramics. When Art and Elsie retired from farming, they moved into Fairfield. After Art died in 1998, she resided at Skyline Lodge in Choteau until she moved to Dillon in 2001.

Elsie was preceded in death by her son, Steven Anderson in 1995; her husband, Art; and brother, Roger Hanson.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Ted Harrison, Dillon; daughter-in-law, Linda Goodman, Billings; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Marie Hanson, White Sulphur Springs; sister-in-law, Virginia Hanson, Bozeman; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Jan Weber, Jamie Harrison, Jon Anderson and Tammy Rowlan; and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Grayson Weber, Eric James and Austin Rowlan.
