The first three songs played were songs I had never even heard. I began to think what old people must feel like when they go to see a band from their youth and the band plays all of their new material instead of the classic stuff that everyone knows. I also thought about how some of the NiN singles I own were released in '88, and at that point I was not enjoying the concert so much... ha! But then Reznor played several songs from the Broken album, which is the heaviest, most angry music he has made. I was taken aback. He then threw in some really incredible visual imagery to match the music, shown on screens that fell down in front of the band so you had to watch the images and focus on the music.
All in all, great concert. The 2-hour show spanned the almost 20 years that Reznor has been making music, but only the first 3 songs he played were from his newest album. The only thing that could have made it better is if I had been in the pit instead of in a suite. I wanted to jump over the edge of the balcony and start slamming into people. Sitting in a seat during a really heavy show is damned near impossible, but I managed.
I am so tired. I did not sleep much last night, and I am really looking forward to laying down in that bed. Goodnight internet audience.
