Grey and Books

Jan 18, 2008 09:42

This morning is cold and drizzly, I have too much work to do and not much chance of getting it done, my body aches (not in the delicious, good-to-be-alive way; more the you're-an-idiot-and-really-shouldn't-have-done-that way), and I wish the whole day would disappear and leave me in peace.

So I figured I could allow myself a half of hour of escapism and I crawled into bed with a fresh cup of coffee and a new book.

Opening line:

There were some days that deserved to be drowned at birth and everyone sent back to bed with a hot brandy, a box of chocolates, and a warm, energetic companion. Today was without question one of those days.
-The Cipher by Diana Pharoah Francis

On another note, I read an author bio the other day that started with something like "Patricia Briggs lived a relatively normal childhood in (unexciting place, USA) until she learned to read."
