I'm working on an hour and a half of sleep right now. In a poetic state, I stayed up to watch the sunrise from the balcony before returning to the hotel room for a few projected hours of nap time. A dream woke me up in the middle of a light sleep and the motivation tag teamed with the Waffle House coffee kept me vibrant enough to write out the piece that I'm comfortable with.

Paul threw a party last night to have fun with the rest of the guys in our squadron. We're all going to the field Sunday and staying out for a little over a week. No one's sure of the exact dates. We haven't had any mission briefings yet, but I'm sure its going to be something stupid. For the excursion I spent close to a hundred dollars on personal items such as a new camel bladder and wet wipes that will feel like a divine shower after sleeping a few nights in the middle of the malaria ridden woods.

In any case, there are two memorable moments of the previous night that I'd like to record for future reference...

1. Josh got his tongue pierced at Twilight. He'd already had it pierced so they had to dig the needle through scar tissue to complete the job. The blood dripping out of his mouth was bright red and gave me this constant sensation of that sting you feel immediately after biting your tongue. Its something I'll probably never do to myself. I inquired about the SPQR tattoo in their font and found out that the job will cost me around a bill. There's not too high of a chance that I'll get the job done in Georgia. Even though it doesn't make too much of a difference, I'd really like to have my ink done in Richmond. It would mean more to me, in some weird way.

2. Richard got drunk for the first time tonight. At the beginning he said that he'd only been buzzed a few times but never actually wasted. So I took the padawan under my wing and had him the match the rest of us with various toasts throughout the evening until he passed out in the bathtub peacefully. The kid is 19 years old. I think that's old enough.
