That's odd, to be missing a Monday like I did yesterday. In fact, Tracy was the one that had to bring it to my attention.
Yesterday went well, very well.
I had a day where I could go upstairs every now and then to do some workout reps, which is always a good thing. My workout plan is pretty much 3-5 reps 3-5 times a day, but trying to space it so that no two sets are back to back, always have a break in there.
For those interested, it's also based on high-tension. Jacknife pushups and inclined one-arm pushups. I'll keep you updated for when I can do those non-inclined one-arm pushups with good form.
Anyway, after work I went home and started immediately on guitar, bring out my Winfield Winners book. For those unfamiliar with that, Winfield is the name of the city where they have the national fingerpicking contest annually. There's also a few other styles they've added recently but it's based off of fingerpicking. Anyway, this book contains several pieces that have been played by those who won the contest over the years. To give an idea of the level of competition, I don't think anyone's ever won the same category twice.
I could have swore I heard my fingers asking me what the hell they had done wrong to deserve playing from that book.
lol, seriously, it's not horrible; I picked one of the easier pieces in there to start off on: Peter Gunn.
I keep asking people if they've heard the theme to Peter Gunn before and hardly anyone has. Am I the only one in the world that has heard and loves that themesong? Please post on this entry telling me if you've heard this song.
At any rate, I played for a while, and got about 3/4 the way through it before Danielle called me. Danielle is the girl that always had a crush on me in highschool; we always sat right next to each other in band and she was always.. she was always Danielle, basically. She's 16 now and can drive, which is a frightening thought.
When she called me she said that she also had Stephanie with her and Jason Leger. Jason was the guy who also played french horn in band and I also sat next to; he used to be WAY too stuck up to hang around, but apparently has been clearing up bit by bit.
I couldn't exactly remember Stephanie at first because I had known at least three of them. Stephanie could see from Danielle's face that I couldn't remember her right away (I'm guessing here, I was still at home, but bear with me) so without hesitation she offers "He danced with me at the Christmas party!" to jog the memory banks. And yeah, now I remember. She has a big crush on me too. She's 15.
Little girls, sheesh.
Fun to pick on though.
So I get invited to go to Rewired, a coffee shop in town (it used to be just wired until they moved, THEN became Rewired). It's really a great place, a lot better than what I expected, and a lot cheaper too. A LARGE mug of hot Earl Gray tea was $1.74. That was just simply amazing, you know?
Anyway, Danielle draws and paints and writes poems, is just basically a very creative person, and has gotten better with all of it over the years as well. She's only 16, but she's not the little immature girl she used to be. She's just a normal little girl now.
She actually has a few painting at Rewired for sale at the counter; no pricetags, but they were framed up and ready to go and everything. Quite ambitious for a 16 year-old, and not in a bad way either.
It was a nice change of pace to get out there and do some stuff like that, especially in a coffeeshop.
Afterwards they went shopping at Goody's and I went to Books-A-Million to see if the new Rogue comic was out, and also check on the Writer's Digest. Both looked good, so I them and a copy of Wicked (the book, not the musical) while I was out as well.
Don't ask me how it's going yet, I've just read the prologue, but just from that it's a good book and he writes AMAZINGLY well. I read this stuff and go 'Dang, I wish I could write that well.'
Maybe that's why that passage made it as a prologue, heh, gets the people to keep reading the rest of the book.
Moving on, Danielle forgot to call her dad and tell him when she was leaving Rewired so instead he calls her and she gets in trouble for it and all, so she has to go straight home, and I offer to take Stephanie home since she really doesn't live that far away from me.
I also took the time to culture her a little bit with the music of Ray Charles and Norah Jones as well as a Ray Charles & BB King duet. She seemed to like it but not go estatic over it, which is good. She would probably have just been faking the whole thing if she had gone hog wild over Ray Charles and BB King. No offense to these great genuises, but they inspire calmly, not energetically.
Going home, I brought Peter Gunn back out for a while, killed my fingers in the process, cooled down on a slower piece I'm working on, went to freestyle rhythm and blues and finished off with... with something. I can't remember right now, but that's probably b/c it all runs together sometimes.
I remember Tracy called me last night after I had gone to sleep and I remember talking with her and realizing that I had no idea how the phone got to my head, when I picked it up, or even getting out of the bed to get the phone, but I know that it was in the charger when I went to sleep.
Kinda weird, you know?
Woke up this morning late because I stayed up late last night, got to work late too, but it wasn't that horrible.
Hey! We got new phones today!
New cell phones!
Camera phones at that!
We = me and the family.
Wow, it's awesome. Can take video clips up to 15 seconds too. Do you know how many crazy stuff you can do in 15 seconds? omg.
Plus, you can have pictures associated with caller ID people, and it comes with a few animations you can put there too, it's great.
Makes me want to keep on changing the settings over and over too, keep on customizing it and whatnot. Maybe I'll do that once a month or something.
Maybe I should do that with my lj too, lol.
I'm about to go out on the road again, but first gotta entertain a guy while my dad is on the phone... bbl
