quick reading update
15. the man who was thursday, by g.k. chesterson. [for the book club] i enjoyed reading it, but i didn't get anything out of it. the ending was totally bizarre. (i mean, as was the rest of the book.) plus it was quite repetitive and predictable (except for a couple of twists).
16. the character of rain, by amelie nothomb. [for the book club] this might be the first book from this year that i would claim to *dislike*. i enjoyed reading parts of it, but parts of it were overly verbose. i couldn't deal. i skimmed over many parts of it. and i *really* skimmed over the last 20 pages! (how much do i dislike a book when i can't even bring myself to read the last 30 pages?!
that makes 16 books for the year so far.
what i'm currently working on:
- the great influenza. still. i have less than 150 pages left...
- purple hibiscus, by chimamanda ngozi adichie. for book club, but this time i picked it. i like it a lot so far. i'm not usually good at choosing books with good prose, but this one is great. so far, anyway.
