Obama won. He really did it.
This is so unreal.
I can finally stop worrying, I can finally sleep.
I feel like finally, my vote counted. Indiana made history by voting 50-49 Democrat (at the time of this post). In it's own way, this election has made up for the eight years of hell we've been through. But, it's the darkest of night before dawn approaches. And it HAS.
I watched with tears in my eyes Obama accept the presidency with a speech that (in my opinion) rivals that of even Lincoln (who fought for the very same right that Obama is able to have). At a presidential election party, I looked across the room to see that the lone Republican (after hearing his speech) was cheering the very same man that he voted against.
The very same man that braved chants of "terrorist" at rallies and racism at the polls.
The first black president of America in the history of this country.
The same man I met here...in nowhere, Indiana....the man who towered above me and who could see through me as I saw through him.
Someday I will tell my kids, my grandkids, that I shook the first black president's hand (and told him that I wanted to have his babies....I wish I could have thought of something more clever, but I for sure will not add that tidbit in). I will tell them what I saw. What will be. The first president to inspire hope and change in a country that is on the verge of destruction.
I prayed for the best man to win. And he has.
